Tips on holiday health from the UND Wellness Center

Staying healthy over the holidays is easier said than done sometimes, but The University of North Dakota Health and Wellness Center gave us some tips on how to stay healthy.
The health center tells us the holidays add extra stress in many aspects of our lives, from financial to weight gain. Since it is colder outside it is harder for most to want to go outside to exercise, but the center tells us exercise is key for staying healthy both mentally and physically. They recommend trying to find something that makes you happy to do as exercise, whether its sledding or going to the gym.
"One thing I tell people if you are going to a gathering be the one to take the iniciative and bring the fruit and vegetables. That way you know something healthy is going to be there and is low calorie and you know exactly what you are putting into it," said Anne Bodensteiner with UND.
The center also tells us that portioning your plates with half fruits and vegetables is a good way to keep the extra pounds away during holiday parties.
